Description

Sony Computer Entertainment America’s PlayStation Sound Department is looking for qualified applicants for a Sound Internship position this fall.  This opportunity will begin on September 17, 2012 and the team is looking for an intern who can work full time hours.

This intern will have the opportunity to collaborate with sound design and dialog artists on PlayStation games. They will have the opportunity to record, edit, and implement sounds on PlayStation projects in development. The Game Audio Intern will likely be exposed to audio tools, processes, and pipelines used by interactive audio professionals.

Primary Location: United States-California-San Francisco Bay Area – Foster City United States-California-San Francisco Bay Area – Foster City

Responsibilities
  • Assist Sound Designers in Field Recording
  • Assist Sound Designers in the Recording Studios (VO, Mix, and Foley Studios)
  • Edit Dialogue
  • Edit SFX and update the SFX Library
  • Assist Speech Designers
  • Reformat dialog scripts to reflect game design changes and update docs for localization team
  • Implement sounds in game level using proprietary development tools
  • Review game sound events using proprietary development tools
  • Misc. duties (clean up after sessions, organize mic closet, etc.)
Qualifications
  •  Interest in professional audio and a desire to show how high quality audio can add value to a product
  • Must have experience with:
    • Audio tools such as ProTools, Peak, Sound Forge, Adobe Audition, WaveLab
    • Operating Mac and PC computer platforms
    • M.S. Office tools
  • Preferred experience with:
    • Maya or 3D Studio
    • Programming languages such as Lua or Python
  • Candidate must be able to take ownership of a task and report progress, or problems, to their supervisor in a timely and clear manner
  • Experience recording sound effects, dialog, or music
  • Passion for Video Games

Required Experience / Education

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program or within 1 year of their post-graduation date
  • 2 years of a 4-year program or completion of a trade school curriculum
  • Experience recording sound effects, dialog, or music

Preferred Experience / Education

  • 3 years of a 4-year program or completion of a trade school curriculum
  • Completed an internship at another company
