“FIMU – Film Music Symposium Vienna” to take place during Hollywood in Vienna at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
This year’s Film Music Symposium takes place on September 26th and 27th, 2017 at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.
Hollywood in Vienna is delighted to announce that Danny Elfman has accepted an invitation to speak at the Film Music Symposium 2017 and teach a masterclass.
Danny Elfman will participate at FIMU Symposium along with many other guest speakers from Austria and the United States. The speakers will discuss current developments in the Film Industry, including topics in entertainment law and PR as well as the challenges of composing for Hollywood. Additionally, this year FIMU will focus on the topic “Video Game Music”.
During his presentation, Danny Elfman will talk about his career and will provide young musicians and composers a view into his creative process during a masterclass on the second day of the FIMU event.

As previously announced, Danny Elfman will be honored with the Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award at the 10th annual Hollywood in Vienna Gala on Friday, Sept 29th at the Vienna Konzerthaus.
Over the last 30 years, Danny Elfman has established himself as one of the most versatile and accomplished film composers in the industry. He has collaborated with such directors as Tim Burton, Gus Van Sant, Sam Raimi, Paul Haggis, Ang Lee, Rob Marshall, Guillermo del Toro, Brian De Palma, and Peter Jackson. Beginning with his first score on Tim Burton’s “Pee- wee’s Big Adventure”, Elfman has scored a broad range of films, including: “Milk” (Oscar nominated), “Good Will Hunting” (Oscar nominated), “Big Fish” (Oscar nominated), “Men in Black” (Oscar nominated), “Edward Scissorhands”, “Wanted”, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Mission: Impossible”, “Planet of the Apes”, “Spider-Man” (1 & 2), “Batman”, “Chicago”, “Dick Tracy”, “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, “Alice in Wonderland”, David O. Russell’s award-winning films “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle”, Sam Raimi’s “Oz: The Great and Powerful”, “Mr. Peabody and Sherman”, the Errol Morris documentary “The Unknown Known: The Life and Times of Donald Rumsfeld”, and Tim Burton’s “Big Eyes”. Most recently he has provided the music for “The Girl on the Train”, “Fifty Shades of Grey” and Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron”.
