For the ninth year now, the prestigious Vienna Concert Hall was transformed into a magical place, merging the musical history of Vienna with modern Hollywood. The Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA and César winning composer Alexandre Desplat was honored by the City of Vienna with the Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award during the 2016 Hollywood in Vienna gala concert. The charming Frenchman accepted the Max Steiner Award from Norbert Kettner, CEO Vienna Tourism Board and Representative of the City of Vienna. Mr. Desplat expressed his love and admiration for Vienna and its musical history and most of all for his wife, Dominique Lemmonier, “the person who inspires me the most”.
Director Wes Anderson recorded a special video greeting for Mr. Desplat congratulating him on this special award, highlighting the importance of receiving such honors from the cultural city that inspired him for the making of “The Grand Budapest Hotel”.
The ORF Radio-Symphonieorchestra Vienna, conducted by Keith Lockart took the audience on an unforgettable journey, called “The Wondrous World of Alexandre Desplat”, performing some of Mr. Desplat’s most iconic pieces, including “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, “The Imitation Game”, “Argo”, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows”, “The Kings Speech” and more. Mr. Desplat conducted the World Concert Premiere of “Meet the Pets” from “The Secret Life of Pets”.
