Well 2017 started busy for me and from what it seems there were also plenty of new sound effects libraries that came out in December and January. Let’s take a look and see whats new in the sound effects market. PS: If you released something new and want to share it on The Audio Spotlight, you can post the news yourself. More here.
Land Cruiser, 1990 by George Vlad and Daan Hendriks
This is a 4-channel recording of an old Toyota Land Cruiser driving on dirt roads. It was recorded by George Vlad and Daan Hendriks while attending the 2016 Sonic Mmabolela annual workshop in Limpopo Province, South Africa. 4 DPA 4060 mics were attached to the vehicle’s body to capture engine compartment, exhaust and wheel sounds.
Empty School Roomtones by Borg Sound
This library delivers a range of room tones from empty corridors, cellars, staircases, toilets and dining halls – featuring ventilation sounds and heaters humming in empty halls during the Christmas holidays.
Bunker Ambients by Soundholder
The Bunkers sound effects library features roomtones and ambiences captured inside old World War II shelters (at the historic WW2 complex known as Wolf’s Lair in Poland).
The ambiences were captured in small rooms deep inside bunkers, in hallways, inside old rusty water pipes and outside, between bunkers.
High Desert Chainsaw by Thomas Rex Beverly
High Desert Chainsaw contains the many sounds of a STIHL chainsaw as it chews through live oak tree trunks and branches. Recorded outdoors in a high desert valley, these resonant and detailed samples capture every crunch and whine of this powerful machine, from engine ignitions, to purring idles, to splintering roars.
Fire Burning Stove by Ronan Quigley
Fire Burning Stove is a 30-minute collection of fire ambiences. With 21 files to choose from, the library was recorded throughout the life cycle of a fire. Featuring multiple variations, examples include the initial start up, full intensity and even down to the last dying embers.
Surround In The Rain 5.1 + Stereo by 2496 Sound Effects
Surround In the Rain features 30 HD 24bit/48khz 5.1 Surround Sound Effects with exactly that. Recorded with discrete Quad microphones, and mastered in 5.1 surround (L-C-R-Ls-Rr-Lf Embeded .WAV format). Recording locations are all from center perspective to create the widest possible sound, and a stereo version of each cue is included, as well as embedded metadata.
Antique Mills by The Soundcatcher
The sounds of an ancient water spelt mill from 1529, as well as an antique tannery, also driven by a huge water wheel from 1699. Both mills have been working for hundreds of years and continue to work even today. This library is recorded in high resolution audio in 24Bit/96kHz on a Sound Devices 702T with Sennheiser 8040 Mics in Mono or ORTF Stereo.
Honda Civic EX 2005 by Watson Wu
This library delivers recordings of the 2005 Honda Civic EX, a 127hp, 1.7 liter, inline 4 cylinder, 4 speed automatic transmission Japanese car.
Included are ready-to-use foley recordings, external passbys, and 4 channels of onboard wave files. All 65 wave files are at 24 bit / 96khz khz and the library features more than 40 minutes of combined driving time (total duration: 197 minutes).
The Blacksmith by Soundbits
The Blacksmith Sound Effects Library features 800 files with over 1000 sounds, recorded at a one-day visit to an old forge from the last millennium. You get tons of hammering metal on an anvil of course but also many other typical forge sounds, as well as more unusual sonic experiences. Mostly metallic sounds – from tools handling, metal hits, drops, clank of chains to vibrating metal poles, rattling cranks, wooden hatches and much more.
