In June indie roundup we will be looking at a few SFX libraries that caught our eye and are worth mentioning. Without further ado, here is this months lineup.
Suppressed Weapons HD Pro by The Recordist
Introducing Suppressed Weapons HD Professional Sound Effects Library. The first of it’s kind, this collection is dedicated to the sound of suppressed guns. Over a year and a half in the making, Stage One of this unique library of “silenced” gun sounds features eight of the finest, quietest and hottest looking suppressors on the market today. Recorded in a few very different locations and with up to 10 channels of audio, dry and urban style sounds were obtained. Close up, medium and distant perspectives were captured on most of the suppressors with the M&P 40 handgun being the only gun recorded from a very distant perspective.
I’ve decided to release this collection in two stages. Stage Two will include suppressors introduced to the market in the last year. These amazing “cans” as the gun folk call them, include the latest sound suppression technologies and advanced manufacturing processes known to man. The “cans” are on the way… The “Tax Stamp” wait can be frustrating but it is well worth it.
Around Bridges 2 (Berlin) by Detunized
Around Bridges Volume 2 gets you sounds taken from the iron and steel construction elements of various bridges in Berlin. The entire library was recorded with a two-channel contact microphone setup and it features thrilling vibrations caused be passing cars, trucks, trams and metro trains.
The material in this library is a comprehensive resource for creating otherworldly ambiences, futuristic pass-bys or eerie atmospheres with a touch of rusty steel and iron.
Ether by Tim Nielsen
A special sound effect library from renowned sound designer and recordist Tim Nielsen: It’s captured with a VC3 recorder, which turns electromagnetic frequencies into audible tones. The collection features weird statics, data and telemetry beeps, the EMF signatures of things such as rack mount gear, LCD screens, telephones and computers. A total of 178 minutes of sounds are included.
Analog TV by The Soundcatcher
Analog TV gets you 99 recordings from the Tele Star 4004 TV, built in the 80s in Leningrad/Russia. The collection features everything from a range of noises, frequency glitches, short pulses, and long frequency sweeps in the VHF and UHF bands. It also comes with a good collection of different static noises and really weird stuff that could – and just might – come from outer space.
Dark SciFi Drones + Construction Kit by Soundbits
A bundle containing a collection of very disturbing and scary futuristic spaceship ambiences, Sci-Fi Drones and organic, surreal alien-atmospheres. This special bundle gets you both full mixes, as well as drones carefully split into logical frequency layers for maximum flexibility.
This gives you better control, allows you to do your own mix of these elements, and you can combine and mix the different layers across the ambiences using drag&drop to create nearly endless variations. It also makes it easy to do creative up-mixes to surround.
Porsche Carrera by Watson Wu
Get the sounds of a 1999 Porsche Carrera, captured by recording specialist Watson Wu. The German-made Porsche Carrera is a 6 speed manual, 3.4 liter, Flat 6, weighing at only 2,900 pounds. The combined recorded driving time is more than 45 minutes long.
