Brickwall audio

Tell us a little about yourself and what you do for a living?
Gladly! I’m owner of the premium music library Brickwall Audio (http://brickwallaudio.com). I started Brickwall Audio in 2009 to meet the demands of my clients. Basically, I saw that there are no high-quality music libraries in my corner of the world so I took it upon myself to make it happen. Today, Brickwall Audio is massively successful with clients all over the world, something I had not anticipated a few years back!

What is your niche or speciality, that makes you stand out from rest of the audio professionals?
I try not to “stand out” as much as I try to “stand in”. I create exactly what the clients want, and believe me, my clients are some of the most discerning, big-budget players out there! It’s a pleasure to work with such a talented group of people!

Can you give us a brief summary of the equipment you use regularly?
In my own studio, I have loads of analogue gear I use for sound generation and processing. I love knobs, faders and switches! I don’t do much live recordings in my studio these days, I rather hire a big studio with talented people to record orchestras, choirs and soloist performers!

What are your go-to plug-ins and software? (virtual instruments, audio processing etc.)
I work with Reaper all the way baby! It’s really the most amazing piece of software out there! I create my own sample libraries as well – it’s something magical about having your own palette of sounds to work with, it’s incredible!

When do you find you are most creative?
I’m always on! My clients contact me all the time so it’s important to stay inspired and creative!

What is your usual process for creating audio content for games, films etc.?
I keep everything ultra-organized all the time! With big media projects things can get really busy, really fast, so I have all pre, main and post-production neatly separated and organised for super fast work-flow!

Are there any particular secrets to your creativity?
Yes! Work fast and efficient, listen to your clients and always deliver, that’s the key to success!

Do you have any audio creation techniques that resulted in something interesting?
I love my 7-string guitars. I usually put them through a load of pedals and amps and process them to hell and back. This way, some of my most inspired sounds have come to be!

Any specific “lessons learned” on a project that you could share?
Have a nice long chat with new client before starting a new project! Get a feel for their personality and vision so further down the line, there’s no surprises!

Any tips, hints or motivational speeches for the readers?
